Pamporovo ski resort to boom as Ryanair fly to Plovdiv

Big news for Pamporovo, the picturesque ski resort in Southern Bulgaria, as Ryanair make moves to fly into nearby Plovdiv airport.

Historically the main problem of this fantastic little resort was the three and half hour transfer from Sofia airport, which tempted many people to Bansko or Borovets instead.

Direct flights into Plovdiv, which is only an hour away at the bottom of the mountains, now means that transfers to Plovdiv should be even quicker than those to the other resorts.

It’s great news for Pamporovo who’s ski resort has also undergone an overhaul in recent years with new management and superb new snow making facilities and lifts.

If you want a great time skiing at a fraction of the cost of the Alps (you can still get big beers for around a quid) then it’s definitely worth giving Pamporovo a try.

If you like it you could even consider an apartment there. Prices are still reasonable and the potential of  Pamporovo could turn property there into a great investment as well as a fantastic holiday home.
